How to Replace an audi replacement keys G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician shows you how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. This sensor is located on the edge of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer on the instrument cluster.

The sensor is located at the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear, the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends a signal to ECU pin T55/49 using the grey wire. The ECU then uses this information to control the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends a signal to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to correlate the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must be aware when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is so it can start spark and injectors according to the situation.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will show the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync, possibly indicating chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper timing chain. The code will not appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It can be a bit difficult to test as there are several connector pins, and they all have different functions. The most effective method to test it is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. When the sensor is functional, it should read about 1000 ohms. Check for signs of coolant, or oil in the connector bay if you are experiencing issues with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll, i experienced massive power loss like the engine is out of gas or injectors are not firing any more. This morning i pull out the spark plugs, three were drenched in gazoline, the fourth was dry. I put tissue over each injector hole and when I start the engine with no sparks, the 3 with gazoline jump out. The fourth one remains closed. I inspected the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55/30/55/48/55/14/55/48/ I get zero ohm. I'm assuming the issue is in another place.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it is running fine with the G28 plugged in. However the intermittent misfire issue continues to occur at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temp value that is -49c even after unplugging it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar when the actual pressure is zero.

I'm not certain what to do, but i think i've pretty much eliminated everything else. I'm worried that i might have missed something. Please let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sender is identical to the G4 and they both work in the 80 100, 200, UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a salvage yard or in a local parts store. It is simple to test them - just put your DMM into resistance mode and measure the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector's end facing up). They should be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines requires to know both the speed and position of the crankshaft to determine timing of the fuel injector, etc. In order to do this it utilizes a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If either of these go badly, you will see codes on the diagnostic scanner that can lead to engine shutdown.

Some of the symptoms of a failing G28 sensor are an inaccurate gearbox rev counter, gears shifting quicker than normal and/or misfiring when in gear. It is probable that your sensor is failing and needs to be replaced if you notice any of these symptoms. They're cheap and easy to find especially in the case of an Bosch unit like ours. Alternately, the GM version of this part is also a good choice.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine speed sensor could be the reason behind many problems in your car. It's an essential component of your audi tt key fob not working's transmission, because it communicates to the ECU about how fast or slow the vehicle's crankshaft is spinning. This sensor can cause the transmission to fail and other components in the car to be affected.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the edge of transmission, above the flywheel ring. It transmits an electrical signal through gray wire to ECU pin T55/49. The ECU uses this signal to control the flow of fuel and boost and also timig. It also sends it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can determine if the sensor is in failure by checking continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. Also, you can check continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79]), and between pin T6a/1 as well as pin T26a/12. You should detect the resistance to be around 1000 ohms in these areas. This is a standard component across the replacement key for audi Audi A1 keys audi tt key case fob - Staal-clayton-3.blogbright.net, 80 100, 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC to the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU. Good parts could be found in wrecking yards.1200px-Vauxhall_logo_2019.svg_.png
